War & Peace

I finished War & Peace today. I started on August 24, and have read at least 30 minutes a day. I probably averaged around 33 minutes a day, since I would finish up whatever chapter I was on. So I figure it took me right around 30 hours.

I really enjoyed the book. This surprised me, since I have no specific interest in history, war, or Russia. It just a genuinely good story, even translated (or maybe especially when translated, I wouldn't know). It is somewhat odd for anovel, as Tolstoy occasionally has chapters that break from the story to philosophize on the the cause of wars and free will. The second epilogue sort of ends the book poorly by going on about that in a repetitive (mind-numbing) fashion, but otherwise a very good book.

Next up: Catch-22
